Video Games and Parenting: How the two can go Hand-in-Hand

When it comes to any aspect of parenting it can be hard to find a balance between allowing your children free time to enjoy themselves and time that should be spent socializing or working on school work. Gaming unfortunately doesn’t always make your parenting situation any easier with many parents all over the world admit that they feel their children spend too much time on their video games and not enough time doing things that are going to help them progress in life.

There are many ways that you can help your child to have a good relationship with their video games to the point where they see the importance of working hard on things like homework, and a respect for when they are allowed time to relax and unwind by playing their favorite video games.

Using Video Games as an Incentive

One of the best ways to use your child’s love of video games to your advantage as a parent would have to be to reward good behavior with time on their consoles. This way your child learns the importance of earning their regards and they will have a much better respect for the way the world works in the future. If your child is allowed video game time whenever they please they will not learn important lessons like earning the things you love which could have a very negative effect on their work ethic in the future.

Video games are an expensive commodity that not everyone is lucky enough to have access to so conditioning your children into the mindset of being grateful for these luxuries is one of the best things you can do as a parent. The end goal of your parenting journey should be to set your child up for their future where they are going to have to earn a living and the opportunity to be able to enjoy the finer things in life.

Educational Video Games

The content your child is exposed to within their preferred forms of entertainment is a worry that many parents have, things like parental settings and monitoring software are a great tool for parents to make sure their child is not using technology to watch things that aren’t appropriate for their age. You may be shocked to learn that some games are actually very educational in their message and the story behind the tasks they require players to complete.

Some video games were designed with education in mind so that your children can learn something while they are having fun, if you are able to sneak in an educational message to something that is considered by your child as a luxury activity then it is much more likely that the message will have a lasting impact. Some games such as Rainbow Six Siege are unintentionally educational through things like the strategy and history aspects that are behind the main storyline, if your child is a fan of the game and would like to progress faster to unlock the new content then you should definitely get these hacks if you want to be the best at rainbow six siege.

Improving Social Skills

As a parent, it is very easy to condemn something as being harmful to your children, with many parents being against their child spending excessive amounts of time on their consoles out of fear of damaging them in the future. However, gaming may not be all bad as it is actually a very good tool for socialization that can help your child comfortably make new friends that they may not have spoken to in the real world. Gaming is a great source of bonding for many children so it is important that you take this into consideration before you ban your child from their games completely. Your children can experience issues with shyness and anxiety from a very early age so if gaming provides the opportunity for them to develop socially you should definitely think about the positive aspects gaming has on your children and their social life.

Preparing Your Children For Real-Life Scenarios

The final way that you can use gaming as an educational parenting tool would be the simulator game that mimics processes within the real world. There are many very fun games out there that are made to mimic things like running a business, building a farm, or cooking and maintaining establishments like restaurants and hotels. Some of these games are very accurate and provide a real-life insight into what it would be like to experience these things in real life. This could be a great preparation tool to show your children how the world works and how important it is for them to think about their careers in the future, gaming has a reputation for being solely a leisure activity when it can actually be very educational.

How to Safley Introduce your Dogs to your New Children

It is important to any family that the relationship between your children and your pets is one of mutual respect and that the pair are able to be left alone together without the risk of something happening. Although you should be able to trust your dogs I would highly urge you to never leave your new children around your dogs unsupervised, especially during the early stages as you can never be certain what your dog is feeling and sometimes their animal instincts can take over.

With proper training, you should be able to have peace of mind that your dog would never hurt a member of your family, as long as you put the effort in to train your dog to know that your new children are not a threat to them everything should go pretty smoothly. I would recommend a few different methods in order to build a strong bond and relationship between your dogs and your new children that can hopefully go on as your children and your pets get older.

Creating a Comfortable Environment

When it comes to the initial meeting of your children and your dogs you should do everything in your power to make the meeting place a setting that makes both parties comfortable, for the dog you can make them feel at ease by conducting the meeting in familiar territory. Using rewards such as toys and treats and of course plenty of affection you should stay close to your dog when you present them to your child. Give your dogs a moment to investigate your new child and do plenty of sniffing, it is usually the case that your dogs will react pretty calmly but you should be very gentle with the situation in case your dogs react badly.

Creating a comfortable environment is one of the best ways that you can show your dog that everything is okay and that your new child should be considered a member of the family. If you need help or advice in regards to creating a relaxing setting in your home for both your dogs and children then  I would urge you to research online or speak to a professional for ideas that could really help make the situation easier.

Observation

As previously mentioned observation is key to making sure that everything runs smoothly in regards to your dog and your child’s first interaction. Although it would be ideal to presume that your dog is going to be fine you should remember that this is a new experience for your pet and no matter how calm they may seem there is still a risk that they will not be okay with your new family member straight away. Change can make your animal’s behavior also change so it is an important part of their training to be present during the initial interactions. If you are training a younger dog or puppy then it would be very useful to use a beginners guide to looking after your new puppy to make sure you are doing everything you can to build a good relationship between your child and dog.

How to Keep Your Puppy Calm

Keeping a puppy calm is easier said than done sometimes, as they are younger and more excitable it is important that you are serious about their training. Using rewards when your puppy interacts in a  calm way you can help to encourage them to be calm if they are going to be rewarded with treats and affection. With younger animals, they find it harder to understand what is going on so you need to be doing everything you can to let them know how they should behave around, small children.

Regular Interactions

One of the best ways to introduce your new children to your dogs is to make sure they have regular interactions and the opportunity to build a relationship together that is positive. Over time you will see that your dog is actually very wary of your children in a way that they would protect them if anything were to happen. A strong relationship like this is a great step in the direction of your dogs and children growing up very happy together.

Everything You Need to Consider as a New Parent

Finding out that you are going to be a new parent is both exciting and daunting, the idea that you will be responsible for the life of a child can be very stressful for some people but you should know that most prospective parents feel this way too. There are a lot of things to consider in the run-up to your child’s birth so it is vital that you are proficient in making sure the necessary preparations are made in time.

Preparation

In order to be truly prepared for your child’s arrival, you should research everything that you will need or even ask any of your family and friends who have been through this before for advice. You should make a list of the things that you need to buy and if you are having a baby shower you could put together a list for your guest to buy you gifts that you actually need to save yourself some money as well as providing your family with gift ideas that you will actually make use of.

Plans For The Future

It may seem a little morbid to be thinking about these things but when you have a child it is your responsibility as a parent to make sure that they are set up with everything they need in their lives. This includes making preparations for your death and looking into processes such as setting up a will detailing what should be done with your money and possessions in the event of your death. As a parent you have to think about these things as dying without a will can cause unnecessary stress to your loved ones when it comes to deciding who gets what.

Online Help

If you are struggling with getting ready for the birth of your child then I would urge you to make use of the various online forums that are available to help new parents. Forums created by experienced parents have been circulating the internet for many years now but it seems that this useful resource is often overlooked within the parenting world when the information is actually very detailed and trustworthy as much of it comes from people who have gone through being a parent. Using forums also opens up communication between fellow parents which is a very useful tool to have accessible even after your child has been born.

Making Sure You Have Everything You Need

With being a new parent comes a long list of essential equipment that you will need to buy before your child is born, there are many books and online resources available telling you everything you need so it would be a mistake to not make use of this. If you are worried about the costs then why not look into what second-hand baby gear is available in your area and as previously mentioned it is common for new parents to compile a gift list for baby showers or christenings so that your guests are able to buy you something that you actually need whilst saving you some money.

The Best Kids Films that Encourage Kindness, Sharing and Positivity

As a parent, you dedicate lots of your time to teaching your kids the best morals and hope they pick them up and express these morals in their day to day lives. You probably try to be the best influence you possibly can on your kids so that they grow up to be good people and carry these morals with them into adulthood. This makes picking films for them to watch difficult, as after putting all this time and effort into helping your kids become the best version of themselves that they can be, you don’t want to allow them to watch any movies that will instill different morals into them.

Kindness can be learned by example so by being a good example and finding movies that emphasize kindness and positivity your kids will learn these quicker. Kindness, sharing, and positivity are all extremely important qualities in kids and in adults, they will help your child to be able to create and maintain friendships at school and this will follow on to adult relationships. These qualities will also help to teach your children to accept other people that are different as they encourage acceptance and tolerance which are also important qualities. We’ve found some of the best kids’ films that encourage kindness, sharing, and positivity so you can show your kids some great films.

Spirited Away

Spirited Away is a Studio Ghibli film, we found out from a quiz about Japanese animated films that this is the Studio Ghibli movie that most closely aligns with encouraging kindness, sharing, and positivity. The film is about the ten-year-old Chihiro when she and her parents stumble upon an abandoned amusement park her parents get turned into massive pigs and she is stuck. She meets Haku who explains to her that she has to work to free herself and her parents from the supernatural resort. This movie promotes many positive messages, it encourages people to always have time for others and to give them attention if they need it and to not hate those who hate you, but instead learn to love them regardless. These are very positive messages and teach kids how to be kind so it’s a great movie to show your child.

Kiki’s Delivery Service

Kiki’s Delivery Service is another Studio Ghibli movie that promotes good morals and encourages kindness. It’s a movie about a young witch named Kiki who leaves home to carry on her witch training. She leaves with just her flying broom and her cat, Jiji to make a new life in a different city. She starts a delivery service to improve her flying skills but unfortunately, she loses confidence in her own abilities and begins to lose her magic. The kindness of other people in the village help Kiki to regain her abilities, this is a great example for kids to encourage kindness within their behavior. It also promotes positivity as it teaches kids to have confidence in themselves the same way that Kiki found confidence in herself.

The Secret World of Arriety

The Secret World of Arriety is another Japanese animated film, this type of movie is one of the best to promote kindness in films to children. Arriety is a tiny teenager who lives in a suburban home without the homeowner knowing. She spends most of her time remaining hidden from those who live in the house but occasionally has to risk going above the floorboards to borrow sugar cubes. This leads to an unlikely friendship forming between Arriety and the 12-year-old Shawn who lives in the house.

This friendship is a strong one but it has the problem of it could lead the homeowners to find out that Arriety and her family are living there causing problems for her family. This film is one of the most wholesome Studio Ghibli films and the entire movie is focused on the message that you should always be kind to others. It promotes that you shouldn’t just be kind to people that you know but you should be kind to every person that you meet. This is a great message to promote to kids so we highly recommend this movie.

The New Parents Guide to Decorating Your Childs Bedroom

When it comes to starting the process of preparing for your first child, it is likely that your mind is going to be swarmed with plenty of things to think about, like clothes and all of the other things that you will need in order to properly care for your child. Some things can be quite daunting and you may put them off for as long as possible due to their difficulty, one of the key victims of procrastination neglect is decorating your child’s room. This can be a very daunting task and requires a lot of work, there is just a lot to think about like furniture, themes and general decor. Though the idea of having to decorate your child’s bedroom can be quite off-putting, it can also be quite an exciting and fulfilling activity. One of the ways you can keep the project exciting is by following a strict guide and getting things done bit by bit, here is the new parents guide to decorating your child’s bedroom.

Paint

Painting the room should be the first thing that you think about. Choosing a color can make it easier when addressing other areas of your decoration, as choosing a color will allow you to establish a theme. Establishing this theme will also make it easier to pick out furniture and another decor. Not only is painting important to starting your other decorating processes, but it is also important that you do it before you bring any other furniture into the room. Having to paint around large pieces of furniture can be extremely inconvenient and so it is easier to just get it done from the very start. If you are struggling to pick the right color for your room and you are finding it difficult to continue the rest of the decorating process, perhaps choose a classic color based on your baby’s gender.

Furniture

You also need to focus on choosing the best possible furniture options for your baby’s bedroom. Some of the main things that you need to focus on our storage solutions and also your babies crib. When you first have your child you are going to accumulate a lot of baby clothes due to how quickly they grow, and so it is important to make sure that you purchase a large chest of drawers. If you fail to do this then you will just have to be dealing with a build-up of clothes taking over your life, so it’s best just to secure storage options to start with. It is also important to make sure that you have a comfortable place for your baby to sleep. Within the first few months of their lives, it can be impossible to get babies to sleep at a reasonable time. Something that a lot of new parents neglect to consider is upgrading their baby’s mattress past the average mattress solution. Something that a lot of new parents are doing is purchasing bamboo mattresses for their babies. These are far comfier than the regular mattress that you would receive with a crib and thus will make it far easier for your child to fall asleep, they’re becoming extremely common and can be purchased at several sites, such as those reviewed at bedroompedia. So be sure to shop about and you will be able to find one that fits into your price range.

Personalize

It is not uncommon for parents to go for plain rooms, however, one of the best recommendations that we could give is to personalize the room and give it a theme. This can make the decoration process way funnier and also give it a clearer direction, as a theme will make it easier to pick out things such as decor and bedsheets.

Father & Son Activities: 8 Ways to Bond With Your Son

Raising boys can be difficult at the best of times. With generations constantly changing, it can be difficult to keep up with your son’s life as he enters a world you’re unfamiliar with. Whether we intend to or not, as your child develops, soon we’ll be the dinosaurs that need our kids to help with new and complicated tech. This is sadly just a fact of life and unfortunately can end up putting a strain on you and your son’s relationship. So, how can you make sure you maintain a healthy relationship with your son? Well, here’s a list of 8 activities perfect for father and son bonding.

Movies

The best way to bond is to find common ground with your son. Ask him about movies he likes and then maybe suggest watching some with him. It’ll reassure him that you’re interested in his life and it will also potentially help you learn things you may not have realised about your son’s personality. It may also be worth suggesting a father and son cinema trip to help you both get outside of the house. Who knows, it may end up becoming a regular thing.

Video Games

As long as you’re prepared for him to likely be far better than you, then another great way to bond with your son is by playing video games with him. Most boys nowadays spend a crazy amount of time on their consoles, what better opportunity to spend some quality time with him than by getting involved in one of his favourite hobbies. Find out his favourite games and if any of them happen to be multiplayer then you’re in luck. If you’ve never played a video game, it’s probably best to get some practice in before you suggest a game – it may end up frustrating for both of you if he has to spend his time trying to teach you how to play.

Fishing

A very popular father/son activity, but for good reason. It will remind him that you still have plenty of things to teach him. There’s still probably a lot more you can learn about fishing as well. Like, did you know you can get special fishing reels for catching bass? As long as you remain patient, fishing can be a calming activity for both of you and it’s always good for both of you to reconnect with nature. Don’t be afraid to get your feet wet and show your son there are more ways to enjoy yourself. Plus, actually catching something would be a bonus as well.

Cooking

Something we could all improve is our cooking skills. Try making some meals or even try your hand at baking with your son. It’s a great activity as there is room for error from both of you and requires you both to work as a team. Teaching him to cook will definitely benefit him in the future and you’ll also (after some trial and error) get some delicious meals out of it.

Sports

Whether watching or playing, there are so many different sports out there that there simply has to be one that you and your son can bond over. You could introduce him to your favourite sports team and take him to games as well as a treat. If you’re wanting to improve you and your son’s fitness then there are plenty of sports you can play in your backyard. Just be prepared to be a bit slower than you remember. Remember, you both have things to learn from each other.

DIY Projects

If you have some work to do around the house, then why not ask your son for some help? An extra hand will make sure you get those jobs done quicker. Anything from painting the walls or fixing up the car to building some furniture, there’s plenty of benefits for both of you by working together. Plus, by teaching him and letting him help, you’ll be giving him invaluable life skills as well. Boys always like to be right and can get frustrated when things don’t work out the way they intended. Be sure to keep your cool and reassure your son if he seems to be getting frustrated. Remind him that IKEA furniture is a challenge for everyone. There’s no harm in getting confused.

Ice Cream

If you’re looking for an activity that’s both sweet and simple (pun intended), then look no further. You don’t need to do anything fancy to bond with your son. Even just taking him to get some of his favourite ice-cream will help improve your relationship. It also works as a great reward after doing some of the other slightly more strenuous bonding activities from earlier like DIY or fishing. You never know, you might even find him feeling more comfortable with opening up to you.

Help them with homework

A bane of every kids’ existence, keeping on top of homework can be a difficult task. An excellent way to bond with your son is by helping him with more academic challenges like homework. Kids sometimes have trouble asking their teachers if they’re confused, so it could be beneficial for him to be able to ask you. Just make sure he doesn’t trick you into doing it for him. The most beneficial thing you can do is clear up his confusion so he can solve the problems for himself. This may require some refamiliarizing from you, but he’ll surely appreciate it.

5 Benefits of Getting A Private Tutor for Your Children

Is your child struggling at school? Or are they coming home with more questions than answers? Then it may be worth investing in a private tutor. Throughout the US, you will find tonnes of tutors that specialize in pretty much every subject you can think of. For example, if you’re in around NYC, this private tutor specializes in LSAT testing – not an easy feat. But what are some of the benefits of getting a private tutor for your child? Well, here are a few to help you make up your mind.

Give them an edge

Getting a place at college can be tough, especially if your child is aiming for a place at one of the Ivy League universities like Harvard, Yale or Stanford. Competition for these universities can be intense and a tutor could help give your child an invaluable advantage to ace their tests and get that place.

Deepen Their knowledge

With most schools, there are set texts taught to every student. A tutor, however, allows for an opportunity to deepen your child’s understanding of their chosen subject with a wider variety of examples and questions.

Personalized Learning

Schools normally offer one method of teaching but, with tutoring, there is an opportunity for a more personalized learning experience as the tutor will be able to tailor their lessons to your child’s learning style, allowing them to have a deeper grasp of the information.

Communication skills

For some children, it can be difficult to ask questions in class, however, with a tutor your child will be able to improve their communication skills and ask those otherwise unanswered questions that may have left them stumped.

Confidence

One of the greatest benefits your child will gain from having a tutor is confidence. They will be able to build on their knowledge and when the test comes around, they can be sure that they can answer any question that comes their way.

Gift Ideas for a 6-Year-Old Girl

Birthday’s for children are one of the most exciting times of the year, right behind Christmas. It’s the day they get to be spoilt rotten and the focus be on them. But it can sometimes be a challenge trying to work out what gifts will suite the special day. Below are a few ideas to help guide you in the right direction.

Painting Supplies

Even at a young age, kids love to get creative. Anything that lets them flex their creative muscles is going to go down well. And nothing is a better present than a set of painting equipment. Not only will your young one have a fantastic time creating works of art, it is something you can do as a joint activity and bond over.

Personalised Bracelet

Bracelets are a wonderful way to treat your daughter or niece. And nothing is better than having it personalized as well. It shows you care and lets them wear something that has a bit more flare to it. Personalized rubber bracelets are a cheaper and longer lasting alternative to traditional jewelry options and are more likely to survive the rough and tumble lifestyle that six-year olds lead.

Actions Figures or Dolls

Kids love to play games where they can live out fantasies and take characters on amazing adventures. Or sometimes they just want to play with their favorite heroes or villains. Action figures and dolls are the perfect gift for girls around this age. Take the time to find out what they are interested in, weather that be superheroes, barbie, cowboys or dinosaurs. Whatever it is, there is a world of options available to you.

Stuffed Animals

Six-year olds are nuts about cuddly toys. Having something they can squeeze tight at night is comforting and joyous. And they can often bond with the stuffed toys for many years to come. Nothing is stronger than the bond between a kid and their teddy. And there is such a large selection available. Find out their favourite animal and bring them a pleasant surprise friend.

Or go one further and take them along to a build-a-bear workshop and let them have the joy of creating their own friend to keep. Along with leaving with a fun present, it will have been a great bonding experience for you and them to take part in together.

A day out experience

It is often said kids have too many toys, and sometimes that is the case. So maybe you want to take a different approach. Why not take them out for a day experience. At age six, young girls are more curious and excitable than ever, so there are endless possibilities. Perhaps a day down a local farm or petting zoo. Maybe going to a show at the theater or cinema to see a movie. Or take them along to the funfair for an amazing day out. What ever you do, they will love being out and about with you.

The Most Important Parenting Philosophies of the 21st Century

Parenting is considered by many to be one of the most important life challenges that are out there, but with so many of us looking to services like online forums and parenting advice meetings for help it is a subject that is often questioned. The fact that so many of us are looking for help shows just how important it is to us, with high demand there has been a boost in the amount of advice services that are out there so it can be hard to know who to trust and nobody needs to see a bunch of inspirational quotes about life. Here is a list of the six best parenting philosophies of the 21st century to advise you on your parenting journeys.

  1. FUN !

Remembering to have fun is extremely important when it comes to parenting, when a family is laughing the household just seems so much more relaxed. It can be easy to slip into a dreadful mood as it is no secret that parenting is a stressful task. It can be easy to get into a rut of focusing on the negatives and forgetting about the rewards that come with bringing up a child, I would say the way to rectify this would be having fun with your family !

  1. Cleanliness

Something a little less enjoyable but equally as important would have to be remembering to keep clean, particularly when bringing up the younger children there is a lot of mess that comes with it so it is important to do your best to keep on top of it. Now I know that this is easier said than done but making simple changes such as using disposable bibs, nappies and wet wipes can help with convenience as you can simply throw them away when they get dirty.

  1. Family

Another important factor to remember when starting your parenting journeys would have to be to keep your family close. It can be so easy to want to shut out the world and relish in bringing up this little life especially when they are little babies but trust me, you’re going to want your family on hand to help out when you are in need of a break because no matter what you say that time will come. It is normal for your family to want to be involved and I think it is a blessing that you should take.

  1. Organised structure

Keeping organised is an important factor in parenting as it retains a solid structure for your child whilst also saving your sanity. A good structure is essential for raising a child as they like a safe routine and it helps with keeping an easy life for yourself too which are both great positives. Deviation from routines may not go down too well with your child and you may be likely to see acting out behaviour from them, this is why it is so important to have an organised structure.

  1. Have a break

Another philosophy to bear in mind with your parenting technique would be to remember to take the time for yourself, have a break, take every little ten minutes you can. Although you have a big responsibility to your child as a parent, you also have  a responsibility to take care of yourself and maintain your own mental health. When your child naps you should also be asleep, of course your sleep schedule is going to suffer but that comes with the job I’m afraid and the night feeds will be less daunting if you are well rested.

  1. Remember your partner.

Something else to remember would be (and of course everyone is in different circumstances so this doesn’t apply to everyone) your partners. Now I’m not saying that this is easy but it is important to remember the other relationships that you are in whether that be husbands, wives or partners whatever your feeling it is more than likely that your partner knows exactly what you are feeling. It is important to not only be a parent but also be the spouse that you were before parenthood, take the time to maintain that relationship we all put so much work into.

The Child Health Guide for Soon-To-Be Parents

Finding out you’re pregnant is an exciting and life-changing moment for those who’ve been wanting and planning for a child. Soon there will be a new little life joining your world! You’ll have the joy and pleasure of seeing them born, growing into a child, waving them off on their first day of school, to watching them leave home for university.

But after the joy has somewhat worn off the worries of parenthood, and all its tasks, set in. The panic of a parent never really goes away, because once you’re a parent, you’ll always be worrying about their safety. To help with some of those post-joy worries are some tips and guides to help you plan you for a new little bundle.

Vaccines

Although there are negative myths about vaccinating your child, they are false. While there are some very rare cases of people having allergic reactions to vaccines, it is so rare that not vaccinating your child because of this worry would do more harm than good.

Childhood vaccinations help protect your child from childhood diseases that have been infecting children for millennia. Our technology and medical advancements mean we’re able to study such diseases and create ways of preventing the harm they cause. Vaccinating your child against childhood illnesses such as Diphtheria, Tetanus, Acellular Pertussis, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Meningitis, and other illnesses, means your child already has a stronger immune system going into life. And don’t worry if these names are a mouthful, vaccines are a topic discussed with you by your OBGYN at your prenatal and antenatal visits.

Teething

While you won’t have to worry about your baby teething until they’re around six months old, being prepared for this process will save both you and your baby some pain. For babies, teething can be painful, but providing teething toys such as medical grade silicone rings to chew on, can help relieve their discomfort. Teething rings and toys are available at your local chemist, as well as specialized parent and baby stores.

Your child’s teeth are always something you’ll worry about, especially while you are abroad. A child can chip or fracture a tooth with ease. Luckily, most countries offer great emergency dental services. A quick search along the lines of dental implants hong kong will steer you in the right direction.

Breastfeeding or bottle?

Now, there’s that old saying, “breast is best”, but for some, breastfeeding is too hard, or even impossible to sustain. While it’s true that anti-bodies are passed on from parent to child through breast milk, many, many children have also been raised just as healthily on formula milk from the bottle. Again, your OBGYN will provide you with all the information you need, and will discuss with you your worries and intentions on breastfeeding or formula.

Many people shame new parents for choosing formula over breast milk; those people are wrong. Regardless of choice, or why it’s chosen, it’s a parent’s prerogative to do what they feel is best for their child, and themselves. The only people whose opinion is valid in making these decisions is the parents and their baby’s doctor.

So, from making sure your baby is protected against common childhood illnesses by vaccinating them, to preparing yourself for the terror that is teething and deciding for yourself what is best for you and your child about feeding, I hope that this guide has helped you prepare for the arrival of your little one.

Why It’s Important to Get Outdoor Time with your Children

These days we are almost entirely focused on the progression of the tech world. We are all excited to see the release of a new phone or smart device and can spend hours every day playing and using our own personal tech. This was not the case over a decade ago when these technologies didn’t really exist and so we had to find other ways to entertain ourselves. This was especially the case if you were a child growing up in the years before the technologically advanced 2000s. Kids back then would spend hours and hours outside, exploring their local area and hanging out with their friends. However, kids these days choose to spend their time surfing the web or connecting with friends on social media.

It is rare to find a child that prefers to experience the outdoors over new technologies, and though these new technological advancements may be exciting, it really is not healthy for children to spend all of their time indoors. Here is why it is important to get outdoor time with your children.

Health reasons

As we have advanced in terms of technology, we have also seen a rise in the number of children suffering from childhood obesity.  This is because children are not taking the time to go outside and get that much needed physical exercise. There have been steps to try and combat this through the use of technology, as many gaming companies have released games that encourage people to get on their feet. Though this has been helpful, nothing can really combat the feeling of walking through the great outdoors and stretching your legs.  Getting your child into the routine of often going out to play is also much more useful than trying to make them do strenuous exercise that they may not enjoy.

Bonding

Spending time with your children can also be very beneficial in terms of building your relationship. If you spend all day inside, it is easy to get on each other’s nerves and this may put your relationship on the rocks. One of the best things that you could do with your child is to go on a camping trip. Camping trips are a great opportunity to take on the great outdoors and work together. It will also mean that you are spending an extended time away from technology, which can be extremely helpful if you are trying to gain some mental clarity. If you are hesitant to take a camping trip due to a lack of outdoor knowledge, you can always go online and look at reviews of gear for the outdoors. This will give you a good idea of what gear you will need and how to use this gear.

Memories

When your child gets older,  you don’t want them to only have memories of their childhood based indoors. There is nothing exciting about looking back at the days you spent indoors watching tv, so getting your child out and about will be a great opportunity to form memories that they will be able to look back on and smile.
